My Father's Son

I wonder what my dad would say
If he saw the man I’ve become today?

If both our paths crossed on the street
Would I be someone he’d like to meet?

Knowing he had done his best
Would he think that I had passed his test?

Could he tell that all the things he said
Have guided me down the path I’ve led?

If he gets to stay a couple of days
Will he learn I’m still the son he raised?

When he takes a good hard look at me
Is a mirrored image what he will see?

And would I hear him shout out loud
Just how his son has made him proud?
