Mother Poems
Mothers at the Window
by Mike Vinci
Pray softly all you mothers
Again has come the time
Our country is demanding
All boys like yours and mine
They speak to them of duty
And that glory comes from war
But you and I know different
We'll heard it all before
We remember all our loved ones
Those no longer here
Because they fell as victims
To that which we all fear
Once again, we'll hug and kiss them
And send them on their way
In hopes that we will see them
Returning home another day
We'll hold vigil, at the window
Praying all the while
Waiting to hear footsteps
And to see that loving smile
Some mothers will be weeping
From bad news they just learned
And others thanking Jesus
For their babies have returned
We'll raise another monument
Pick out a special place
So all mothers see we honor
The ones they can't embrace
