About Ellen
|
| |
|
|
Ellen Bailey was born
in Puritan Mines, West Virginia, a small, close-knit community of
hard-working coal miners. The town is located at the southern tip
of the state amid the beautiful Appalachia Mountains. She has lived
there her whole life and has seldom ventured beyond her roots.
She wrote her first poem when she was in the third grade; it was
a poem about the country of Holland.
She has been a regular contributor to the Williamson Daily News,
a local newspapers, and a great many of her poems were first published
in its columns under the name of Matilda Ellen Brown, her maiden
name. |
| Ellen is
a God-Fearing woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Both of these
traits are reflected in the type of poetry she writes. She draws
upon her life experiences and her belief in the Bible for the inspiration
for her poems. |
